When the Body Mirrors the Earth

It began with what I can only describe as a “spiritual flu.”

Just two weeks ago, without warning, but aptly, following an intense energy session with my beloved healer, my body dropped into an immense purge — waves of vomiting, chills, fever, and body aches — all in a condensed five-hour span.

And then… it was gone. I woke the next morning steady enough to frequent the farmers market.

This has been the tone lately: energy moving through faster, but with more potency.

My days have been full of clearing, detoxing and integration — dragons blood tinctures, clay masks, cacao and tarot rituals, sound and energy healing, shamanic ceremonies to help my dear friend Kasey finally cross over (after several visitations to me and my wife), craniosacral and bodywork to unstick what’s been frozen for decades, cord-cutting, sauna and cold plunge sessions, and time spent curiously exploring the high desert.

Each practice works a different layer, but all ask the same thing: let go.

Even my household is in it. Daniela has been moving through her own wave with a cold, tonsil inflammation, and skin release. Both dogs have had short bursts of their own “flu,” each passing quickly. We’re all in this collective cleanse — no one exempt from the recalibration.

When old emotions surface, I feel them physically. The discomfort is the sign. The energy is moving. And with each release comes more space, more clarity, more rootedness.

It’s hard not to notice the parallel with what’s happening on a larger scale. Gaia herself is in her own purge — the shaking, floods, fires, eruptions. Some events may be human-caused and nefarious in origin, but many are simply the cycles of a living Earth adjusting to new frequencies. She, too, is letting go.

We are microcosm and macrocosm. Her release mirrors ours. Our release mirrors hers.

This time feels like that unmistakable moment in labor when there’s no turning back — the next reality is already on its way. We’re shedding what cannot come with us. It can feel intense, but it’s also a sign of what’s being born: A New Earth.

In the midst of it all, I keep to simple, steady practices that hold me through the waves:

  • Gentle detox with herbs, clays, plenty of purified water and high-vibrational foods.

  • Ceremonial cacao to open the heart and soften the edges of release.

  • Rest -- supported by furry snuggles or a bolster to lightly elevate the front side of my body.

  • Movement that keeps energy flowing without strain.

  • Bare feet on the earth to remind my body where home is.

  • Moments of quiet presence to witness what’s shifting inside.

  • Clearing the energetics of home and body through purification rituals like palo santo and gentle gong playing.

These aren’t about “fixing” anything — they’re about tending to the physical vessel so the transformation can move through more easefully.

If you’ve been feeling the intensity, know you’re not alone. Many of us are riding these contractions together. And with every layer that moves, we make more room for the new — in ourselves, in our homes, and in the world around us.

The Earth is becoming. We are becoming. And one day soon, we’ll look back and see this time for what it truly was: proof that something beautiful and entirely new was finding its way through.

Holding each of you closely during these birthing pains,

xx Kris
