Today’s lunar eclipse in Pisces opens a potent six-month portal of endings, revelations, and new beginnings.

Eclipses mark thresholds: what has been hidden comes into light, and what no longer serves dissolves.

In my cacao ceremony (a full 2oz for deep journeying), I began by pulling an animal spirit card. To my delight, Platypus leapt forward as my guide. This curious, hybrid creature feels like the perfect ally for eclipse season — ancient and deeply attuned to the unseen realms.

The deck I’m working with is by artist Rachel Farabaugh (see image below) which Daniela was drawn to on our visit to her Sedona shop last fall where she received an animal spirit reading.

These cards have become a gentle bridge to the natural world, offering guidance from creatures who carry keys for our ascension into higher states of awareness.

Platypus: The Hybrid Mystic

Platypus is one of nature’s great mysteries. This prehistoric animal has the bill of a duck, the tail of a beaver, the feet of an otter. It lays eggs but is also a mammal.

As you can see, Platypus defies categorization.

This is precisely why it’s so fitting for Pisces eclipse medicine. Pisces dissolves boundaries, Virgo brings form. Platypus bridges water and earth, reminding us that we too are hybrids — both mystical and embodied, both dreamers and doers.

Platypus Medicine for the Next 6 Months

Gifts and Guidance

  • Embrace your undefinable self.

    Your quirkiness is your magic.

  • Live at the threshold.

Platypus moves between water (Pisces: intuition, spirit, dreamtime) and land (Virgo: body, ritual, daily life). You can also carry wisdom between worlds.

  • Trust the subtle senses and whispers beneath the surface.

  • Honor solitude.

Remember that periods of retreat are ripe for creativity and renewal.

  • Reconnect with the ancient.

Platypus links us to the timeless.

Shadow and Challenges

  • Feeling out of place

Platypus may stir up insecurities about not belonging. The medicine is to step boldly into your unique design.

  • Escapism vs. Embodiment

Too much water (Pisces) can drown us in dreams; too much earth (Virgo) can suffocate spirit. Platypus asks you to balance the two.

  • Over-sensitivity

With heightened perception comes overwhelm. Lean on boundaries and grounding rituals during this time.

  • Isolation

Withdrawing too long can tip into loneliness. Platypus invites us to choose alone time as sacred and restorative.

Closing Reflection

As this Pisces eclipse unfolds over the coming months, Platypus reminds us that our differences are our strengths. Its medicine is about moving between worlds with ease, trusting subtle intuition while staying rooted in daily life. This season asks us to honor solitude, embrace what makes us unique, and find balance between dreaming and doing.

Can you relate to this mystical creature as it guides us through the Virgo - Pisces Axis of this eclipse season and into July 2026 once the nodes of fate shift to Aquarius - Leo?

Holding space as you navigate the sacred realm between water and shore,

xx Kris
